Domain King Rick Schwartz Sets New Standard for Domain Investors

The Domain KingRick Schwartz, the man who has been called the Domain King, has been setting new marketing standards for domain investors on social media. The world’s most recognized domain investor, who has sold tens of millions of dollars in domain names, has had a few tweets recently that has really captured my attention.  Other domain investors should take notice – King Rick is again taking the industry by storm.  He has decades of experience, contacts deep in this industry, deep pockets and noteriety.  Furthermore, he’s been leveraging the latter two assets to continue to build his kingdom.  Let’s examine how domain king Rick Schwartz sets new standard for domain investors.

Best Domain Monday

His tweet, shown below, with the heading Best #Domain Monday, is a genius marketing ploy.  Think about this for a moment – Rick Schwartz is leveraging all of his social media presence on Twitter, many of them domain investors – and offering them a chance to quickly sell their very best domain at a deeply discounted price.  For Example, his most recent tweet got 177 public responses with more than 500 domain names and probably more than one Direct Message.  By marketing himself as a buyer with tremendous buying power, he’s demanding “Give me 90 minutes of first refusal.”  Certainly, If you’re a domain investor who is looking to drop a domain quickly for cash, this is your chance to put your very best foot forward and make some quick cash.

Domain Investors Take Notice and Take Advantage

If you’re not Rick Schwartz and you invest in domain names, this is also your chance to score as well.  The Domain King may very well select one or more of the best domains available and snatch them up within 90 minutes.  I don’t know if he’s actually bought any domains or not, but I do know if you’re a domain investor looking to buy, opportunity is knocking every time he posts a tweet like this.  Other domain investors should be scouring the responses looking for gems at the “deeply discounted price” offered.  If you see something you like, send the respondent a message and buy that domain.  First of all, let’s examine the responses the King Rick received.

Furthermore, Rick is being sent hundreds of domains at reduced prices, right?  A review indicates some possible good deals, but many more tweet responses indicate a problem in the domain investment community – undervaluing good domains and over-valuing poor domain names.  What’s comical about the Domain King’s tweet is this is the guy who admittedly will never sell a domain name for under $15k himself.  Is he looking for bargains or is he trolling the domain investing industry?  I’m unable to determine exactly what Rick is doing here, but I do know this much – it seems like the domain investment community better take notice, the King is back to sit upon his thrown.  Finally, let’s examine the lead he has taken in reshaping the strategy for domain investing.

A Change in Strategy

While reviewing Rick’s Website you may notice he doesn’t list any domain for sale, only domains for lease.  I’m not suggesting he doesn’t have domains for sale, he claims ownership of thousands of domain names. What I am suggesting is he’s leveraging for the future in focusing on leasing high-value domain names and is even getting equity stock in company’s in addition to a cash payout.  Rick’s strategy is intriguing and all domain investors should take notice.  He’s many steps ahead the rest of us, or is he?  In my opinion, the domain king sets new standard for domain investors.
